    About Montana Conservation Corps  

    Montana Conservation Corps (MCC) is a non-profit, AmeriCorps-affiliated organization which operates from offices in Bozeman, Helena, Kalispell and Missoula, Montana.  Our mission is to inspire young people through hands-on conservation service to be leaders, stewards of the land, and engaged citizens who improve their communities.  Our work takes place across Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, North Dakota and South Dakota.  MCC strives to give its participants the experience of a lifetime through challenging conservation work and the rigors of life outdoors, coupled with education developed specifically to create engaged citizens and lifelong environmental stewards.  By weaving together leadership development and skills training with hands-on service in the outdoors, MCC helps young people develop vital competencies that build a foundation for achieving success, an affinity and aptitude for being in the outdoors, and an energetic and motivated workforceIn turn, MCC participants perform substantial work that provides lasting benefit for public lands.  For more information, visit us at www.mtcorps.org.

     

    Summary Statement 

    The Associate Director of Marketing, Communications, & Recruitment is responsible for developing and implementing marketing and communications strategies that support MCC’s outreach, fundraising, and recruitment goals.  This position requires extensive experience with layout and graphic design, specifically utilizing Adobe InDesign.  Successful candidates will have excellent writing skills as well as experience with nonprofit marketing and communications best practices and effective teamwork and supervision skills. 

     

    Term of Employment

    Full-time, exempt. 

     

    Compensation

    $47,476. Benefits include health/dental insurance with co-pay and 401K retirement plan with 5% employer match.

    Responsibilities

    • Create and implement a multi-faceted marketing and communications plan designed to support MCC’s fundraising, recruitment, and general outreach goals
    • Design and write engaging print and online marketing and promotional materials that target a variety of audiences, including MCC’s electronic and print newsletters, brochures, fact sheets, annual report, and other materials
    • Manage and grow MCC’s social media presence through Facebook, Instagram, Vimeo, YouTube, and other appropriate platforms
    • Cultivate and maintain effective relationships with traditional and emerging statewide and regional media outlets to promote MCC programs, activities, and events
    • Develop press releases and news events
    • Direct recruitment for MCC programs through the planning, coordination, and production of publications, online resources, and unique communication measures to secure applicants for MCC’s programs and oversee systems and processes to manage applicants in coordination with the state office and regional staff.
    • Develop and implement systems to encourage and secure blog entries, photos, and video content from corps members, alumni, staff, and other appropriate contributors
    • Participate in the development, coordination, and implementation of outreach efforts to engage a greater network of alumni
    • Manage content on MCC’s website
    • Manage a marketing and communications calendar
    • Ensure that all promotional materials are aligned with MCC’s brand identity and graphic standards
    • Manage MCC’s communication of special activities and/or initiatives
    • Participate in the development of an annual marketing and communications budget
    • Utilize CRM software in various communications activities

    Supervision Exercised

    • Provide direct supervision, guidance, and leadership to the Communications Coordinator

    Qualifications

    • Five + years of relevant work experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience
    • Skilled in graphic design and desktop publishing, specifically through Adobe InDesign
    • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, social media platforms, and emerging internet technologies
    • Exceptional writing, editing, messaging, and oral presentation skills to communicate with diverse audiences
    • Experience managing social media
    • Experience writing and managing website content
    • Experience producing a variety of collateral, including annual reports, press releases, blog posts, web pages, news items, and other promotional materials
    • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team and as a supervisor
    • Outstanding organizational skills
    • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines under pressure
    • A valid driver’s license and ability to be insurable per MCC parameters
    • Ability to engage in periodic overnight travel, in and out of state

    Preferred Education and Experience

    • Experience with MCC or a similar conservation corps
    • Experience with iCIMS Applicant Tracking System and Recruiting/Admissions Software
    • Experience with Salesforce
