About the Position

The Associate Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for developing and implementing marketing and communications activities that support MCC’s outreach, recruitment, and fundraising goals.  Principal responsibilities include developing and implementing a multi-faceted marketing and communications plan and managing day-to-day marketing and communications activities. Duties include managing and growing MCC’s online presence through the website, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and other appropriate methods; developing and writing content for the website, Facebook, e-newsletters, reports, fundraising letters, print publications, and other initiatives; working with staff and corps members to secure and use quality photographs, video content, and stories; and engaging the media to help meet organizational goals.  This position also supports recruitment activities through the planning and coordination of unique communication measures to secure applicants for MCC’s programs.  This is a full-time, exempt staff position that reports to the Director of Development. This position will have recurring access to vulnerable populations.

  • Developing and implementing a multi-faceted marketing and communications plan designed to support MCC’s recruitment, fundraising, and general outreach goals
  • Designing engaging print and online marketing and promotional materials that target a variety of audiences
  • Creating marketing collateral, including MCC’s electronic and print newsletters, annual report, and other materials
  • Seeking, cultivating, and maintaining effective relationships with traditional and emerging statewide and regional media outlets to promote MCC programs, activities, and events
  • Developing press releases and news events
  • Supporting recruitment for MCC programs by producing appropriate publications, online/digital resources, and other materials for these programs
  • Developing and implementing systems to encourage and secure blog entries, photos, and video content from corps members, alumni, staff, and other appropriate contributors
  • Participating in the development, coordination, and implementation of outreach efforts to engage a greater network of alumni
  • Developing and managing a marketing and communications calendar
  • Ensuring that all promotional materials are aligned with MCC’s brand identity.
  • Developing graphic standards and overseeing compliance
  • Managing MCC’s communication of special activities and/or initiatives
  • Maintaining systems for storing press clippings, photos, and other media
  • Maintaining MCC’s social media accounts, including content creation and curation
  • Participating in the development of an annual communications budget and action plans
  • Utilizing database management software in various communications activities
  • Supervising relevant marketing and communications staff


  • Five+ years of relevant work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience
  • Skills in desktop publishing and graphic design
  • Good leadership, management and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, content management systems, Adobe Creative Suite, web design, social networking sites, and emerging internet technologies
  • Exceptional writing, editing, messaging, and oral communications skills
  • Experience with managing social media and websites
  • Experience in producing a variety of content including annual reports, letters, press releases, blog posts, web pages, news items, social media content, and other promotional materials
  • Ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences
  • Able and willing to travel and work a variable schedule


  • Experience with MCC or a similar conservation corps
  • Experience with marketing and communications for nonprofit outreach and fund development activities
  • Experience with iCIMS Applicant Tracking System and Recruiting Software
  • Experience with Salesforce
